Justin Hayward is an English musician, best known as the lead vocalist and founding member of the band The Moody Blues. Justin Hayward was born in London, England on August 28, 1940. He was the eldest son of Thomas Hayward (1916-1973), who was a stockbroker, and his wife, Gwladys (née Cunliffe). Justin Hayward has one younger brother, Michael. Hayward joined the Moody Blues in 1959. He provided vocals until his departure in 1967 after which he became a record producer for several other artists including Kate Bush, Bryan Ferry and The Stranglers. He later recorded with the reformed Moody Blues until his death in 2005. Hayward has been married twice; firstly to Barbara Clements(1946-1955) and secondly to Jane Bamford (1957-1965). Justin Hayward was treated for prostate cancer in 1987 and donated a kidney to his daughter's partner in 2003 after finding a donor with a similar blood group.
In 2011 he suffered a stroke that paralysed his left side, but made a full recovery with the aid of physical therapy.
